Georgetown Yoga offers classes for all - regardless of shape, age, or athleticism. Our classes are rooted in classical Hatha yoga styles [Vinyasa, Iyengar, Ashtanga] and emphasize proper alignment, modifications, and breathing.
Classes are teacher-driven and encourage learning, not repetition. Each teacher brings their unique training and styles to each class, but all are rooted in classical hatha styles and include easier and advanced variations on poses.
Vinyasa or “Flow” classes feature a dynamic style of yoga that focuses on precision, strength, and balance as you move from pose to pose in coordination with your breath.
Hatha classes draw on various schools, primarily Iyengar and Ashtanga, and are designed to deepen your practice, your strength, and your concentration through a focus on longer holds, modifications, and proper alignment.
Teachers routinely include easier and more advanced variations on all poses, and will encourage your progression as you develop deeper strength, balance, concentration, flexibility, and balance.

Vinyasa Yoga / Deep Flow / All Levels
A class that will appeal to those seeking a sometimes vigorous, strength-oriented sequence with a dynamic series of asanas firmly rooted in classical yoga.
If you want to get out of your head and your ideal practice includes a challenging series including core work, poses like vashistasana (side plank), bakasana (crane), and inversions, you’ve found your class.

Vinyasa Yoga / Align & Flow / All Levels
A longer, constantly evolving class offering a progression of classical poses that will take you out of your own thoughts and help you find the edges of your practice and your self.
Longer holds, openings, and balances that require both strength and sustained concentration in synch with your breath.
Type-A’s will be pushed to hold poses for longer than they think possible, while Type-B’s will be forced to reckon with the knowledge that without strength there is no balance.
The pose begins when you want it to end.

Hatha Yoga / Classical / All Levels
A class that integrates classical asanas and core movements/stretching at a mellower pace, giving you time to go deep or to play with the edges of your ability. A balanced ratio of standing and seated poses, active stretching, with several inversions each class.
Great for athletes or for the regular yogi/ini, this class is a nice counterpoint to vinyasa classes. Challenging, but something for everyone- even non-yogis.
If you haven’t learned something about your body or your self, it’s not yoga - expect to be challenged.

Hatha Yoga / Iyengar-Inspired / All Levels
This Iyengar-inspired class is open to all students and focuses correct anatomical alignment as the foundation of a life-long practice so that the student suffers no injury or pain.
One of the few styles named for its founder, in this case the legendary B.K.S. Iyengar, this style focuses on precise alignment and the use or modifications and props to make the asanas more accessible and safe.
Break down the pose and do it right.
