Intro to Ashtanga Yoga Workshop - Sunday, January 20, 2008 - 1-3 pm

New to yoga but are wondering if it will be enough of a workout? Done yoga before but are looking for more of a physical challenge...?
Join us for this special intro to the Ashtanga Primary Series - a challenging, flowing practice synchronizing breath with movement through a set series of progressive postures to build strength, flexibility and stamina.

Ashtanga is a vigorous style of yoga (the style that gave rise to all forms of the popular "power" yoga) that attracts athletic types, particularly runners looking for a lower-impact form of exercise that encourages more flexibility. Ashtanga is recommended for people that are already physically active with moderate to high fitness levels.

In this workshop, the flow of the postures will be introduced in a manner that promotes safety and alignment as foundations for the Ashtanga practice. Ujjayi breathing technique and use of the bandhas (internal muscular locks) will be introduced.
