It definitely doesn't feel like January though, with all the warm weather...while it hasn't felt exactly right to me, I wonder if I'll be complaining come February, when I head to much colder climes in Big Sky country - Bozeman, Montana. Yes, you read that right - I am shifting my home base out west. I still cannot believe it myself. We typically look to the new year for change, and as a time to make changes. Usually new year's resolutions are about improvement - how can we leave behind stagnant, unrewarding patterns and bring about healthy and positive changes in our lives? There is always something inspiring about the prospect of a clean slate; but that said, it can be downright scary too. I have had some time to anticipate this move, and it definitely has had its share of struggle involved. As much as we crave change in our lives, it can be difficult to leave what's familiar behind. I've realized how much the concept of moving has evolved for me over the last few months and how that evolution has helped me embrace the huge change I'll be making. And I've realized how this process is like our yoga practice. If we force our bodies into asana, frustration and injury can result; if we allow our bodies to open on their own, at their own pace, we are often surprised at the results. We cannot force change, nor can we resist it. So we must find the middle ground and allow the process to carry us along while simultaneously shaping its evolution. Now back to Montana: I am sad to be leaving DC, but I am also very excited about the possibilities for growth ahead. Montana is Big Sky country - and
we will be right in the heart of it, amidst the Rocky Mountains
and just north of Yellowstone. My husband hails from Missoula,
so it's a bit of a homecoming for him. We've decided that in
addition to a healthy, outdoor lifestyle, there are some great
opportunities for us as well. A new yoga studio is in the works,
and this venture will have a focus on yoga retreats By now you may be wondering
what's happening with Georgetown Yoga. Not to worry - very
little is going to change, with the exception that you won't see
me as much! But I will continue to provide direction to GY
activities as the studio's founder and owner. On a day-to-day
basis you will be in the very capable hands of our studio
manager, Liana Sheintal, in an expanded role. Liana will be
